Gen Con 2012: Homebrew Costumes

Reported by Robert Posada

Homebrew Costumes

On Saturday I ran into a striking number of costumes clearly made by the wearer (as opposed being bought ready-to-wear at the store). So we decided to feature them on their own page.

We had to do some research to figure out the source of some of these, which goes to show how wide the world of SF/F has become over the two decades Chimera has been in operation.

Trooper and blue woman (anyone out there know if these are from a show or movie?)

HALO Spartan HALO ODST

Halo SPARTAN and ODST; too bad we can't make out the rank insignia.

A Twi'lek, which ironically are said to "have an ancient and rich history of non-violence" but are nearly always depicted with a lightsaber due to the famous Jedi Aayla Secura.

An anime-style homebrew costume, but who does it represent? This one stumped the Chimera staff.

Chimera's Best (and creepiest) costume of the show: The Corinthian, a major character from Gaiman's Sandman comic series.

We're calling this "steampunkish" as there's no visible technology.

This Dalek costume was very clever and made in a hurry for the show.
